Empowering sustainable change: How our funding enabled Ampergia to deliver solar PV at Leyton Orient Football Club

Providing funding to support our suppliers and installation partners, such as green energy specialists Ampergia, is crucial to bringing projects to life—especially when upfront capital expenditure (CapEx) is a hurdle. Our collaborative approach combines financial solutions with sustainable infrastructure, focused on maximising the benefit to the end customer.

Flexible financing is at the heart of this initiative, eliminating the need for upfront investment. Solar projects, like those with Ampergia, require substantial CapEx that often deters companies. Our financial products allow customers to proceed with installations while redirecting capital to core business operations, along with benefiting from long-term energy savings.

A prime example is the solar project at Leyton Orient Football Club (LOFC), originally introduced to us by one of our broker partners, Sustainable Energy Finance. This 362.79kWp solar PV system, comprising 834 JA 435-watt panels and 3 x 110kW Growatt inverters, is expected to generate nearly 246,000kWh of electricity annually. Funding was essential to make this installation possible, aligning with the club’s sustainability goals and significantly reducing energy costs. Without our flexible financing, this project would likely not have been feasible

The project went seamlessly from start to finish, and we’re already seeing significant savings of 40% on our energy bills. This investment supports our environmental goals and makes financial sense for the club’s long-term future.

Our relationship with Ampergia, and other similar partners, is mutually beneficial. Ampergia offers a one-stop sustainable energy solution for businesses across various sectors, including football clubs, while we provide essential project financing, ensuring smooth execution and successful outcomes for customers. Offering third-party funding enhances Ampergia’s proposition by removing financial barriers, enabling faster, more comprehensive deployments, and driving increased business opportunities.

Working with Horizon Energy Ventures has been instrumental in expanding our reach and delivering more green energy projects. Their financial expertise and flexible approach make them our go-to partner for sustainable project funding.

The process is straightforward: after receiving project details, we tailor a lease-based model to the customer’s needs. Once agreed upon, the project progresses seamlessly.

Ryan O’Connell, our Head of Commercial, added: “The LOFC project progressed smoothly from start to finish. Ampergia’s exceptional execution, paired with the club’s forward-thinking, ensured the installation was completed on time, delivering impressive results and energy savings. This collaboration shows how ambitious sustainability projects can succeed with the right partners and financial support.”

This funding framework demonstrates how partnerships like ours with Ampergia bring sustainability-focused projects to life. By continuing to collaborate with partners, we drive innovation and meet broader goals of clean energy and net-zero targets.
